Jessica Menzies – Highly Commended

Jessica Menzies lives and works in the Adelaide Hills. Drawing has been an important part of her life for many years, creating bright, abstract pieces to gift to friends old and new. Her art is a conduit for connection, friendship, and communication. In recent years Jessica’s practice has become more focused.

In 2019 she participated in her first group show, Myriad for the SALA festival and in 2022, her business, AJAr was formed coinciding with her first solo exhibition at the Organic Market in Stirling. AJAr marks an exciting moment in Jessica’s art career, evolving her arts practice into a micro enterprise where her drawings are translated into textile prints and applied to homeware products. Jessica is passionate about recycling and is inspired by plants, animals, pop culture and sport.

The trustees of the 2023 Dawn Slade-Faull Award have Highly Commended Jessica’s work and encourage her to continue her practice.
