Lorraine Neldner – Highly Commended
Neldner is a South Australian artist whose practice is deeply rooted in memory, personal experience, and the intimate narratives of home and family. Working primarily with acrylics and markers, Neldner creates richly layered compositions that explore tonal depth and intricate detail. Her work often reflects on the dualities of time, evoking quiet moments shared with her mother in the garden over cups of tea, while also contemplating the immediacy of her present-day surroundings.
Drawing inspiration from the everyday and the familiar, Neldner’s paintings weave together the past and present, capturing the emotional resonance of life. Her works are poetic representations on belonging and connection.
Neldner has exhibited widely across the Barossa Valley, regional South Australia, and Adelaide, including multiple group exhibitions at regional galleries and boutique wineries. She has been a consistent presence in the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival for the past seven years and her work has been acquired for several private collections.
In 2025, Neldner received a commendation for the prestigious Dawn Slade-Faull Award, further affirming her growing recognition within the South Australian arts community.
“I like drawing, it makes me feel like I am back in the garden. Creating art makes me feel relaxed and connected to my mother and past memories. I like sharing my art with people” Lorraine Neldner
